1884-1954 member of the community of Canons Regular in Klosterneuburg Abbey, Austria. He was first professor of Holy Scripture. He was a leading figure in the Liturgical Movement, publishing 56 popularly accessible books in German. Some of these were translated into English, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch and Chinese! The Liturgy of the Mass, The Breviary Explained, The Church's Year of Grace. He founded also the periodical Bibel und Liturgie.
